In 1900 , she was appointed director of the state Orthophrenic school in Rome , whose function was to care for the ”Hopelessly deficient”” children the of city.She saw that they were starving for experience ;Therefore she started to think about what she could do to help out.She convinced that the problem of handling these children was not only medical treatment but a teaching method.These children were kept in prison like room with less food and were in awful condition .
She dismissed the staff members who treated those children in bad manners.She discovered that her young patients need purposeful activities which can help in stimulation of their senses as well as their mind .She started to teach many children which were comparatively less disturbed by Helping them to learn that how they can take care for themselves and their fellow inmate . she enjoyed tremendous success in teaching the children herself,While developing and applying her unique method which aided their learning . She and her colleagues started a wave of reform in the institute by preparing suitable environment and by dealing with these children with love and care.
Her Educational methods were revolutionary as those were based on the scientific observation of children learning .She continued her work with careful observation like a biologist .The whole world got amazed when two years these disabled children began to pass standardized examinations . There was not much difference in result when compared with normal children .



Inspiration .
She was iinfluenced by fredrich froebel who was the inventor of kindergarten and by johann Heinrich pestalozzi who believed on children learning the activity . Maria Montessori also searched the successful work done in past with these children in the field of medicine for educating these disabled children .During this research children by two frends Doctor jean-Mare-Gaspard Itard And Edouard Seguin
