Chromatic Sense

Montessori isolate the chromatic sense with her colour tablet activities.Children first distinguish between primary colour,then  secondary ,and finally the various graduation of each.

These exercises allow the child to  look at a tree and see the many variations of green found inn the leaves.They can observe the variation of colour.the child can truly perceive the beauty found on the earth.

Usually in s Montessori classroom,There are 3 boxes of colour tablets.

Box 1; This box consists of primary colours in 3 matching pairs (red,yellow.blue)

Box 2;This box consists of 11 colours in matching pairs (red,yellow,blue)are 3 pprimary colour ,orange .green purple are secondary colours while brown ,grey pink are tertiary colours .Black and white are nautral colours)

Box 3. This box consist of 9 sets of 7 tablets ,each colour in 7 shades from the darkest to the lightest in 9 separate compartments (yellow,red,blue,green,orange,violet.brown,maroon & black)

The sensorial area in a Montessori classroom focuses on lessons and activities that help develop the five senses: seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling. The lessons and activities provided in the sensorial area of the classroom help children clarify, classify, and understand the world around them.
